linkage/books

Throughout the history of Christianity the Bible has been used as a tool for the subjugation of women. In the long tradition that includes medieval witch hunts and the Southern Baptists' 1998 declaration that wives should submit to their husbands, we now have Revolve: an edition of the New Testament marketed to teenage girls, fashion-magazine style, which is climbing the sales charts (currently ranked 56 on Amazon). You may be wondering what's so bad about this - sure, it's insipid, but it's not exactly the Malleus Maleficarum. (Few books are comparable to the Malleus, really. I can think of about one off the top of my head.) Well, this hilarious column by Mark Morford explains just what's bad about it better than I possibly could. Fox News frequently makes me physically ill, but I just had to laugh at this. She's turning into a parody of herself. "Be honest, girls, this is what we do"? Hilarious. I can only assume comments like this drive off her female audience in droves. (If not... well, maybe I shouldn't be laughing so hard.) Anyway, if her female viewers do leave her, I hear there's an opening on ESPN.

No kidding...HEY maybe she and Rush can go on tour together, maybe visit the troops in Iraq. Oh, yeah, I can really see it now. Can you imagine "Dr." Laura and the Iraqi women?
