Pen vs. Keyboard, Pictorially

As a follow-up to previous post, I collected my writing implements into one place and posted an annotated photo on Flickr.

Where are the napkins (or margins of other notes) for short proofs?

I actually use the index cards for that. Although it tends to be order-of-magnitude calculations rather than algebra.

Napkins are the way to go. :)

They're very versatile---I use them for calculations, to remind myself of songs to download, etc. :) Plus, I always have them around.

One time when I was visiting, Megan saw me take one of my coffee napkins, hunt for a pencil, and start writing and then gave me this really weird look and asked if I wanted some paper---as if it weren't normal for me to write stuff down on the nearest napkin. Imagine that.
