Rock Songs for Talk Like a Pirate Day

Posted by Arcane Gazebo at September 19, 2005 7:59 AM

A few from my playlist:

  • The Libertines, Tomblands
  • Mary Timony, Return to Pirates
  • Sleater-Kinney, The End of You
  • The Decemberists, The Mariner's Revenge Song
  • Franz Ferdinand, 40'

Other suggestions?

I listened to sea shanties and pirate songs on the iPod this morning, which made the 90-minute commute (!!!) more bearable. Will have to find the ones you listed and get them, too!

I totally need a tricorner hat with a skull and crossbones on it.

Well, there are definitely soom good ones from The Pirates of Penzance (however 'n Hell that blasted name be spelled, yarrrrr).

There's also to the theme from the Pirates of the Carribean (the ride).

Not to mention Europa and the Pirate Twins by Thomas Dolby, Seven Seas by Echo & The Bunnymen, Sailing on the Seven Seas by OMD, Terra Titanic (Lost to the Sea) by Peter Schilling [ok, this last one is kind of a stretch], Seven Seas of Rhye by Queen, Carribean Queen by Billy Ocean (there be the wenches, yarrr!), and The Longships by Enya

We actually did listen to sea shanties, Pirates of Penzance, and the Pirates of the Caribbean song during Monday's drive. I'll have to add Mason's other suggestions to next year's playlist.
