Or maybe the bird flu

Posted by Arcane Gazebo at December 8, 2005 8:22 PM

Apparently this is not a cold but some extremely unpleasant fever. So I may not be traveling this weekend after all.

Meanwhile, someone has written the resubmit letter I wish we had sent to a certain journal. (Via Dynamics of Cats.)

Get well soon. I'll miss you at the starting line but there's always Big Sur. Loved the resubmit letter.

Feel better soon!

The flu certainly seems to be going around...I still need to write my entry about my recent botched fort save. (I think had an effective strength and con of 2 for all of yesterday.) I had to be bedridden for basically the whole day and night. (I did check e-mail a couple times and went to campus in the morning to print something, but after lying on my office floor for a while, I finished that and got a ride home.)

I had already been sick for a few days, and then I woke up (with a proverbial cold sweat) in the middle of the night between Wed and Thurs and was like 'oh crap!'. It was horrible. I was shaking all day, etc. [Other details suppressed because you don't need to read them.] It was one of those situations where I immediately knew I wasn't going to try to work that day, and I typically try to fight through almost everything so I can at least get a little bit of stuff done.

Not fun.

That's a pretty funny response letter, by the way. I have to say, though, that despite the fact that I have gotten annoying referee reports on occasion that the revised versions of my papers are usually much better than the original ones I submit. I do, however, love complaints about our paper not having something that nobody in the world knows how to do. (This was a minor comment in an otherwise extremely fair referee report. I think perhaps they really just wanted us to write a sentence like that explicitly in the paper.)
