Via Making Light, this gallery of photos of Chinese landscapes is eye-poppingly gorgeous.

Those are stunning and much in conflict with my recollection of China from visiting back in the early '80s. I remember it- Beijing in particular- as being gray and polluted and so cold your shoes would freeze to the sidewalk if you stayed in one place too long. Obviously, these are of the countryside and the colors are amazing.

They really tie the country together.

Would a comment along the lines of, "I just sprang one" be too distasteful?

Most of the pics are definitely awesome, although there are a couple of duds in there.

My favorite is one of the middle ones, where you can actually see the blue of the water and the green and then more blue... I have to believe some color enhancing software was involved, because I can't imagine a place that beautiful actually exists.

I've seen a lot of America, and it is boring. No wonder I don't go outside as much when all the good stuff is halfway across the world.
