Excuses for not blogging lately:
I find that I can't walk and talk at the same time. It's a good thing that I only do this when other people are around, because then they get to save me from being run over. (This happened at one interview.)
Ah... articles that are nearing completion. Those are definitely major time sinks. I'm currently trying to figure out the timetables for upcoming articles. One of them is the archival version of something recently submitted, so that one is a little easier to predict. I've started struggling with new figures for that the past couple days. Today I also started solidifying plans for when we're submitting our next Congress article (which we hope to get into Nature, but we shall see...). Of course, I currently think this will be December, so this is still a pretty hazy timetable, especially given that other things (like a grant proposal) are definitely getting written before then. Don't you love the paper chase? All we need is a scavenger hunt (which must be uttered John Houseman-style).

By sheer brute force I've slowly been getting better--if a girl starts talking to me, I try to at least respond, even if it's just, "buh... uh, urr.... ahhh!!!" (that's an oh-shit not a oh-I-get-it noise) I guess I can actually manage now with really easy stuff, if I'm practicing with the people after beginner class.
5.) If you'd like to try Aria sometime, I can see if I can track it down... My brother might still have it, actually, which would be a good thing in that case.
