Here's a fresh thread for the Project 365 comments. Above: Today's picture, a tall paper-shade floor lamp viewed from the top.

Posted by: Mason | March 20, 2007 11:20 PMFYI: The link for these comments in the sidebar leads to the old thread.
This whole conveyor belt thing reminds me of a certain "I Love Lucy" episode, which my t-shirt making experience from last night (and early this morning) also reminded me of. One of the other people in the room actually got the reference, but the others gave me blank stares.
Posted by: Mason | March 28, 2007 11:35 PMDude, cove picture is made of win. I wouldn't mind getting smashed up against those rocks, if you know what I mean (I sure don't).
Posted by: Lemming | March 30, 2007 10:46 AMI agree. The cove pic was awesome!
Posted by: Mason | March 30, 2007 8:42 PMDamn, jealousy, she's a harsh mistress. At least she's got green eyes. Green eyes are sexy.

Personally, I think transition matrix elements can be pretty interesting.
Posted by: Mason | April 10, 2007 2:00 AMMason: In the proper context, but I don't think my qual-talk-in-progress is very photogenic. Your comment reminds me that I still need to write a post on my recent research (stuff from the Science paper and March Meeting talk).
Posted by: Arcane Gazebo | April 10, 2007 2:53 PMThat lamp reminds me that I have a certain jousting duel that I need to hopefully get to work tonight. I've been stuck on this for a while, and I suspect that it shouldn't be this hard.
Posted by: Mason | April 18, 2007 12:07 AMYou know, that arrangement of foam almost makes him look like a Katamari Damacy character tilting his head a bit...
Posted by: Lemming | April 19, 2007 9:59 AMMakes me suddenly think: MC Effervescent and the Bubble (w)Rap.
Posted by: Lemming | April 20, 2007 9:58 AMIt reminds me that the pictures on the warning symbols in other countries (or at least the ones I've visited) seem to have far more violent depictions than the ones in the U.S. (I approve of this, by the way.)
Posted by: Mason | April 20, 2007 11:22 AMThis picture of wetting reminds me of the Mullins-Sekerka instability. :)
Posted by: Mason | April 22, 2007 1:28 AMAs I was explaining to a friend last night, the key to a short thesis defense (or any other oral exam) is to provide your committee members with some nice prune juice to drink. (Or, you could be a bit sneakier and provide chocolates that were previously soaked in prune juice.)
This has its origin in a discussion about oral exam strategies back in grad school.
Posted by: Mason | April 24, 2007 12:53 PMThis one should be titled "Young Abe Lincoln ponders his thesis outline."
Posted by: JSpur | April 26, 2007 7:23 AMActually, I think the caption should include your prison ID number.
Posted by: Mason | April 26, 2007 1:15 PMWow, you're strumming that thing really fast. :)
Posted by: Mason | May 3, 2007 11:13 PMAt 1/10 exposure time, even I look like Rodrigo Sanchez. :P
Posted by: Arcane Gazebo | May 4, 2007 2:45 PMNot Segovia? You know, that Spanish classical shit is really hard to play when you're drunk.
Posted by: Mason | May 4, 2007 5:11 PMI like the vinyl. I, too, have a single record in my collection. The local Rasputin's was clearing out old stock before they moved a mile or so down Hesperian Blvd, and I picked up Toys in the Attic for 65 cents.
Also, I don't own a record player of any sort myself, but we have, if I count correctly, at least three or four working players at my parent's house.
Posted by: Lemming | May 8, 2007 10:58 AMI have some records back at my parents' place. One of them that I haven't been able to find for a couple of decades is the Buckner & Garcia album, Pac-Man Fever, that I bought back in 1982. (That was, in fact, the first record I "bought" -- with the quotes meaning that I nagged my parents to buy that. I had no money at the time.)
Posted by: Mason | May 8, 2007 5:12 PMOkay, submit this dog resting his head to Cute Overload.
Posted by: Josh | May 11, 2007 12:35 AMThe dog picture is indeed very classy.
Posted by: Mason | May 11, 2007 1:57 AMNeeds before and after shots, with the after taken sideways.
Posted by: Lemming | May 12, 2007 12:14 PMI like how the 'am' on the right comes out almost as bright as the 'pm' on the left.
Posted by: Mason | May 15, 2007 1:48 AM"Is that a tree growing our of your head..."
"Or are you just happy to see me?"
