This whole conveyor belt thing reminds me of a certain "I Love Lucy" episode, which my t-shirt making experience from last night (and early this morning) also reminded me of. One of the other people in the room actually got the reference, but the others gave me blank stares.

As I was explaining to a friend last night, the key to a short thesis defense (or any other oral exam) is to provide your committee members with some nice prune juice to drink. (Or, you could be a bit sneakier and provide chocolates that were previously soaked in prune juice.)

This has its origin in a discussion about oral exam strategies back in grad school.

I like the vinyl. I, too, have a single record in my collection. The local Rasputin's was clearing out old stock before they moved a mile or so down Hesperian Blvd, and I picked up Toys in the Attic for 65 cents.

Also, I don't own a record player of any sort myself, but we have, if I count correctly, at least three or four working players at my parent's house.

I have some records back at my parents' place. One of them that I haven't been able to find for a couple of decades is the Buckner & Garcia album, Pac-Man Fever, that I bought back in 1982. (That was, in fact, the first record I "bought" -- with the quotes meaning that I nagged my parents to buy that. I had no money at the time.)
