Words and Guitar

I'm supposed to be writing the concluding chapter (!) right now, but I would be remiss if I didn't link to Carrie Brownstein's review of Rock Band (which I haven't played yet) in Slate. She's a little snobbish about it, but when you played guitar for Sleater-Kinney you're allowed.

She's the one on the left:

(And I still have an appendix to write, so I'm not quite there yet... also the whole "revision" thing.)

I think that whole "revision" thing needs to be revised.

Of course, in the British sense the last revision I did was back in April, for my qual.

Ugh, I'm not sure if we use that term. I often can't tell which terms are Oxford terms and which are British ones. The differences between Oxford and the rest of the UK (not to mention the rest of the world) far outweigh the differences between the UK and the US. It reminds me quite a bit of Caltech, actually. It's still in a bubble, but it's a different style that is being enclosed than what we had at Caltech. (And it, too, causes students to break along cracks they already have.)
